Sustainably produced membranes keep water out of the building envelope
A high performance home starts from the ground up. Keeping water and air out of the places it doesn't belong in the home's envelope goes a long way to make the home more durable and comfortable, not to mention more efficient.
At the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance Conference and Expo, Marcus Jablonka, vice president with Cosella Dörken, explains the company's approach to sustainable building and some of the products that can help a home perform better.
Delta' products include:
DELTA-VENT SA, a self-adhesive water-resistive and air barrier. It is highly vapor permeable, water-tight, and aggresively self-adhering. It is a self-adhering water-resistive barrier and an air barrier with the security of a self-adhesive edge lap. The product is designed to eliminates leaks at fasteners and helps improve the performance of the building enclosure with increased air-tightness.
A new dimpled membrane specifically designed for use in garden roof applications, DELTA-FLORAXX is idealy suited for drainage and water retention in extensive green roof systems. The product substitutes a mineral drainage layer (gravel) at a significantly lower weight and less installation height.
The new DELTA-FOOTING BARRIER is a multi-layer barrier membrane that resists the capillary rise of moisture from the footings of the building into the foundation walls. It acts as a physical barrier, helping to reduce moisture in foundation walls, where it can lead to mold growth, deterioration of the structure, and an unhealthy basement living environment.
