Installer-friendly ICFs are strong and cut down on waste and labor time

As insulated concrete forms gain ground in the residential marketplace, contractors and installers are learning about the benefits of this building system.

Brian Corder, director of marketing for ICF manufacturer BuildBlock, reviews some of the aspects of ICF construction for installers and contractors. Corder says BuildBlock's ICFs have several unique features, such as a measuring tape and cutting marks molded into the foam, making installation faster and easier. By design, the block repeats itself every inch, making it possible to create a factory-edge at each and every inch of the block for minimal waste, Corder says.

Insulated Concrete Forms are a modern method of construction that are manufactured using Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). The forms are stacked, steel reinforced and then filled with concrete. When completed Insulated Concrete Form walls provide a solid monolithic structure. Insulated Concrete Forms offer a variety of benefits and can be used in residential, commercial, medical, educational and multi-story construction.
