Infographic: The future of solar power

In the United States, 0.005 percent of all energy consumed comes from solar. This may seem like a drop in the ocean, but it’s quite substantial. 
Globally, there was a 33 percent increase in global solar power generation from 2014 to 2015. Currently, the total photovoltaic (PV) power generation capacity around the world stands at 231 gigawatts. 

The compound annual growth rate of solar power generation in the United States is 60 percent. 

When it comes to energy storage, the total energy storage market in the United States is expected to be 858 MW by 2019. The solar industry employs hundreds of thousands of people in the United States. 

The number of people working in the industry is expected to grow from 209,000 to 360,000 by 2021, which is great for green energy enthusiasts.

The infographic below, created by New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Online Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree program, takes a look at the future solar and its potential.
